About Dr. Calaf

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with more than two decades of experience supporting adults through anxiety, relationship struggles, sexual health concerns, sleep disruption, disordered eating, and the long work of personal change.

In private practice, I take on a small, focused caseload so I can offer the kind of attention this work deserves — with care available in English and Spanish, across Puerto Rico, Virginia, and Georgia.

"Healing isn't about returning to who you were. It's about meeting who you've become — honestly — and walking forward from there."

Areas of focus

01

Anxiety & Depression

Practical, compassionate work to interrupt cycles of worry, low mood, and burnout — building tools you can actually use between sessions.

02

Relationship Issues

Support for navigating conflict, attachment patterns, and communication breakdowns — whether you come in solo or as a couple.

03

Couples Therapy

Structured, compassionate work with couples to rebuild communication, repair trust, and navigate conflict — grounded in evidence-based frameworks and years of relational practice.

04

Sexual Health

A discreet, nonjudgmental space to address desire, intimacy, identity, and the concerns that often go unspoken in other clinical settings.

05

Insomnia & Sleep

Targeted, evidence-based care for chronic insomnia and disrupted sleep — using CBT-I to restore rest without long-term reliance on medication.

06

Eating Disorders

Steady, recovery-oriented care for disordered eating and body image concerns, drawing on CBT-E and a collaborative, weight-inclusive approach.

07

Life Transitions & Grief

Steady guidance through career change, loss, caregiving, and the quieter transitions that reshape a sense of self.

My approach

Evidence-based, never sterile.

We start with the story

Before any technique, I want to understand what you've lived through and what you're trying to build now.

Tools that actually fit

I draw on CBT, IBCT, ACT, CBT-I, CBT-E, and MI — but the work is always tailored. No two people heal on the same timeline.

Honest, steady, confidential

You'll get straight talk and a place where nothing has to be performed. The goal is real change, not endless sessions.

Common questions

Are you accepting new clients?+

Yes. I'm currently accepting a limited number of private clients, including telehealth across licensed jurisdictions.

Do you offer sessions in Spanish?+

Yes. Sessions are available in both English and Spanish — please share a preference when you reach out.

What does the first session look like?+

The first session is a conversation. We'll talk about what brings you in, your history, and what you hope to change. There's no pressure to share more than feels right.

Insurance and fees?+

I operate as an out-of-network provider for most insurers and can provide superbills for reimbursement. Fee details are shared during the initial inquiry.
